ANDRECO
Over(w)all – Castello di Brescia, Italy
Exhibition for MZOO Festival (2016)
Over(w)all is an installation that took place in the area of ExpoZOOne the night of Sunday July 24th 2016. The walls of Castello di Brescia became for one night the walls of an open-air art gallery, where the work of the invited artist were projected for the first time. A research between art and science that borrow the language from urban art and performance: finding in the selected works an argument on the relationship between man and nature. Between urban landscape and natural landscape. Between past and present. The goal of Andreco is to produce new visions, symbols and formulas, to make the invisible visible, showing the beauty of the hidden natural process as a contemporary alchemist that learns from the past.
AN INTERVIEW WITH BRESCIA DESIGN FESTIVAL 2015
Design 360° Magazine No.61 – Designer’s Craftsmanship, China (2016)
“Craftsman is the successor of traditional craftsmanship. They know the knowledge and the limit of this field well. Nowadays we can use various new technologies to break through the limit of traditional handicrafts. Young designers focus more on the culture of crafts instead of the quantity, as the stories, concepts and values added behind handicrafts cannot be surpassed by quantitative products. When people buy design products, they tends to unique customized products with rich meanings. All these are based on the changes of global economy and the attitude to the making process. To cultivate a superior culture, people should sustain innovation generation by generation to form sound cultural chains. As a result, all kinds of handicraft platforms have emerged. Some of them are profit organizations, others engage in conservation. No matter what kind of ways of intervention they use, they take the responsibility to gather the craftsmanship and spirit of craftsmen in different places and give the traditional craftsmanship new meaning in the new context. This issue will interview three platforms which focus on handicrafts from different places around the world, trying to find out the possibilities of the development of handicrafts in different kinds of platforms”.

Wearing the Portuguese tradition
The Portuguese design consultancy Estufa formed by Cecilia Lages, Maria Ruivo and Raquel Pais presents À Capucha! In this project, they commit themselves not to let the Portuguese artisanal techniques disappear, by contributing to a sustainable production and by protecting a unique and timeless heritage. Their work embodies the Portuguese memory, design and know-how. Highlighting local and global aspects. As well as their folk like, sophisticated, traditional and innovative features. We met in Porto to talk about their project, the history behind it and the future expectations.

Behind the scenes of Buttered Barber
Johnny Hermann is the brand and the alter ego of Mauro Savoldi, Italian maker specialized in the realization of hand made wooden objects. Ranging from interior decorations to collectibles, his production is half way between art and design.
The unique character of his work can be understood spending time with him in the place where these objects are conceptualized and realized. We have been visiting his Milanese workshop to discuss about his latest works and the process behind Buttered Barber, a project presented at Milano Design Week 2015 as well as Brescia Design Festival 2015 – design in corso.

Ceramics that explore emotions
We met in New York for the first time about four years ago at the ICFF (International Contemporary Furniture Fair). Over there we were both exhibitors at the designboom mart, an interactive platform for emerging and established designers to test their new ideas. Over the years, many talents have been discovered during their participation in the exhibition. In that occasion we met and we kept in touch.
Here are some questions I have asked to Jessie Phillips Andersen after her participation in Brescia Design Festival 2015. In case you missed the exhibition, this is a chance to learn more about her and the process behind her work.
